Carnival Comes to South London

Carnival party at The Latchmere

– Battersea pub, The Latchmere, hosts Bank Holiday Carnival Party –

Shocked by the sad news that The Notting Hill Carnival has once again had to cancel* due to the Corona virus, leading London pub, The Latchmere in Battersea will be bringing their very own street party vibe to South London.

From 3pm – 1am on Saturday 28th August, The Latchmere will embrace the Carnival atmosphere and provide a loud, proud and vibrant warm-up session for the capital’s Bank Holiday weekend.

Held in The Latchmere’s rear garden, there will be a pop-up Caribbean bar serving ice cold beers plus with island inspired cocktails including Watermelon & Coconut Rum Punch, Passionfruit Caipirinhas and Jalapeno Margaritas available inside. Better yet, with every cocktail purchase you have the chance to win a tequila chaser! Simply roll two dice, get a double, and enjoy a shot of Olmeca Gold.

Just like the Carnival itself, there will be a Caribbean style barbecue. Tuck into jerk chicken (or seitan) with rice and peas, feast on sweet potato and callaloo curry with rice and flatbread or go crazy for curried goat with a side of spiced corn on the cob.

The soundtrack to the street style party will be a blinding Carnival bassline with DJs pumping out a playlist packed with reggae, samba, ska, soca, afrobeats and calypso tunes. Dancing, whining, wiggling or bogling will be impossible to avoid.

Dressing to impress is also strongly encouraged. Post a picture of you at The Latchmere on Instagram and tag @threecheerspubs and you could even win a meal for two up to the value of £100.

Just like the Carnival itself, The Latchmere party is totally FREE. The pub will also be open as usual just in case you fancy a breather before you go back to the action.

Bring forth the Carnival fun. Bring south the Carnival fun!
