When you think of pantomimes, chances are more than one cliché springs to mind. But Cinderella and the Beanstalk, the latest offering at Theatre503, manages to avoid all the age-old puns and bring something entirely new to the table.
Presented by the three-strong Sleeping Trees theatre company, Cinderella and the Beanstalk follows our protagonist on a perilous adventure to retrieve the coveted golden eggs from the top of the beanstalk. As you can imagine, not all goes to plan and havoc ensues. A mash-up of two of your favourite pantomimes, to say this show is fast-paced would be an understatement.
This is a brilliant show for young and old alike, with enough wit and humour to keep all parties happy. Cinderella and the Beanstalk has already received some rave reviews, including a string of four and five star ratings and high praise from British Theatre: “If you only see one pantomime this season, see this one.”
If you’d like to make an evening of it, you can combine your trip to the theatre with an express dinner at The Latchmere – which is conveniently located downstairs. With a delicious, daily-changing menu, its also great value at £13 for 2 courses or £16 for 3 courses, from 6 to 7pm. The Latchmere also has a special children’s menu to keep little people happy.
