“And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by”

– John Masefield (1878–1967)

In honour of the Chelsea Flower Show 2026 and the associated Chelsea in Bloom festival, The Trafalgar public house, one of King’s Road’s latest openings, will showcase a stunning multi-textile floral display, a celestial cocktail list and a sparkling three-course menu, with carefully matched wines.

From 18th – 24th May, in alignment with the 2026 ‘Out of this World’ festival theme, the first new pub on London’s iconic road in over a century has drawn its intergalactic inspiration from the ancient and trusted ways sailors used to navigate their ships: the stars.

Teaming up with renowned florist, McQueens, the pub’s entrance will be decorated with an incredible fabric and fynbos flower installation. A mix of varieties will be used, including King Proteas and Blushing Brides in honour of the pub’s King’s Road location opposite the Chelsea Town Hall, well known for its weddings. Better yet, there will be a cosmic moon garden featuring a galaxy of flowers that only bloom at night, accentuating the importance of our night sky, the stars within it and the magic it brings.

Shining bright, the new cocktail list will include creations such as a Polaris Sour with ABA pisco, lime juice, demerara sugar and egg white, or a Starlight Spritz with proseccoSt Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon, mint, and soda water. Enjoy as an aperitif or as a well-deserved drink after a day at The Chelsea Flower Show.

The stellar new menu will feature delicate dishes such as gin-cured chalk stream trout with pickled cucumber or English asparagus with broad bean purée and toasted Kentish cobnuts to start. For main course, try roast hake with samphire, Jersey Royals and Henners’ English Sparkling beurre blanc or wild garlic and morel risotto with pea shoots and olive oil. For dessert, perhaps treat yourself to a twinkling pink fizz, blueberry and viola jelly or an elderflower posset with strawberries and shortbread. Enjoy with carefully matched wines such as False Bay ‘Whole Bunch’ Rosé or Waterkloof, Boreas from Stellenbosch.

Tom Peake, owner of Three Cheers Pub Co, responsible for The Trafalgar, said: “Chelsea has always been renowned for its rich history with the stars. As this is our first festival, we are delighted to be able to take this to the next level. Chelsea in Bloom is a magical celebration and something we are proud to be part of”.

If you want to know where to eat during the Chelsea Flower Show, The Trafalgar on King’s Road promises to be out of this world in every way.

Notes to editors:

  • The Trafalgar’s ‘Out of this World’ three-course menu will cost just £43. The associated wines, one per course, will cost an additional £24.
  • The Trafalgar takes her name from the Battle of Trafalgar in which Admiral George Cadogan, 3rd Earl Cadogan CB (1783-1864) played a key role.
  • Seafarers have been using stars to navigate since the beginning of time. As British poet laureate John Masefield (1878–1967) wrote: “And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by.” We would like they think they helped Admiral George Cadogan, who famously commanded HMS Havannah, to victory too.

About McQueens Flowers

  • McQueens Flowers, one of London’s most celebrated florists, has long been synonymous with extraordinary floral artistry — and this year’s Chelsea in Bloom collaboration with The Trafalgar is no exception.
  • Having looked to the Southern Hemisphere for inspiration, and partnering with Cape Flora, their South African flower supplier, McQueens design concept, ” draws inspiration from the extraordinary diversity of one of the planet’s most spectacular floral kingdoms, with a magical ecosystem of unknown plants and blooms, it is like an unexplored place from another world!
  • Magical plants evolve into ethereal specimens glowing with bioluminescent pigments. The palette fuses the natural vibrancy of local flora with iridescent cosmic tones, creating a visual tension between nature and the unknown.
  • Petals become sculptural metallic forms, reminiscent of meteor minerals, and leaves ripple like solar flares. Materials echo sustainability while suggesting futuristic innovation. The overall aesthetic blurs the boundary between garden and galaxy, where the extraordinary can emerge from the familiar.
  • As with all of McQueens’ installations, the flowers and materials used will find a second life either via donation to the local communal gardens or through the McQueens’ Flower School.
